We would like to give you some valuable advise on how to make the right choice when buying our coffee in our shop or coffee house and what you can do to maximize your coffee experience.

Coffee Purchase and Storage

Coffee grinding and storing

Whenever you make purchase in one of our coffeehouses you are asked whether you want to have your coffee ground or not. If you wish to have it ground, you will be asked how coarse you want it or how you are going to prepare it. These categories are closely related, but we will elaborate on that further in the text, where types of coffee preparation and its suitable coffee grounds are described.

The best way is to buy coffee beans and grind them right before you use them which ensures the coffee to retain its aroma to the last moment. Since our coffee is freshly roasted (we roast coffee in small weekly volumes), you do not have to be afraid to miss on the maximum coffee tasting experience by using already ground coffee. If you keep to basic rules of coffee storing you will be able to enjoy our coffee even after some time after your purchase has elapsed.

Our offer of coffee mills that live up to all the grinding criteria is just about to be released. These are the basic criteria a coffee mill should fulfil:

  • grinding should be done by stones, not knives that cut not grind the coffee beans
  • coffee mill must able to grind coffee to different coarse levels, from fine to coarse
  • coffee mill must be easy to take apart and clean, including the stones

Coffee is organic material so it is susceptible to a range of harmful processes. They do not have to necessarily spoil the coffee but they might strip it of its aroma. Moisture, air, light, and heat are the biggest enemies of coffee.

We recommend:

  • Coffee should be kept in canisters that do not permit any light in. The canisters should be kept away from direct sun, in a cool and dry place.
  • The canisters for coffee storage should be air-tight (our coffee comes in air-tight bags).
  • Even if there is not consent on whether to store coffee in the fridge or not we advise to avoid keeping coffee in the fridge. Changes in temperature caused by opening and closing the door bring about water condensation affecting coffee in a coffee canister. Moreover, since coffee absorbs smells easily, it can also absorb smells of food stored in your fridge.
  • Coffee mill you have at home must be cleaned regularly. Remains from the coffee as well as from the oils covering the surface of the coffee bean decompose in the mill and devaluate your coffee. The same applies to coffee canisters that must be kept clean.
